The Oldham Wellbeing Hub
The Oldham Wellbeing Hub is commissioned by HMPPS, GMCA and are coordinated by The Big Life Group to support people on probation. Our purpose is to prevent people on probation from returning to prison, or returning to criminality by improving their overall wellbeing.
We provide a weekly timetable of activities and ad hoc events and work with a range of other services and charities across Oldham and Greater Manchester to provide the best in house support to our service users.
We have weekly drop ins from other services to provide support all in one place. This includes specialist support for debt, family support, including family court, trauma support, specific support for veterans, emergency housing advice and guidance:
TOG MIND
Listening Space
Listening Space is an informal, confidential space for adults aged 18 and over who feel they need someone to talk to and to get support of issues affecting their mental health and wellbeing. Adults are able to attend the listening space for face-to-face appointments in a calm and comfortable environment. This is on a walk-in, self-referral basis or via a professional referral. An engagement worker from Positive Steps is allocated to Listening Space five days a week to provide guidance on issues such as housing and maintaining their properties, finance and debts, domestic abuse, hoarding and self neglect, self esteem, social isolation, employment and training.
Living Well
The Living Well service works with TOG MIND and Age UK to deliver an integrated approach in supporting adults experiencing mental health conditions, supporting them with practical barriers and supporting them to access help.
The service provides a short term intervention for practical and emotional support to mitigate the need to escalate to other services, such as A&E and Adult Social Care.
Living Well referrals must come from a professional, such as GP surgeries, CMHT, Turning Point, Age UK, TOG Mind, Talking Therapies, ARCC, Police, and Social Prescribing.
Social Prescribing Link Workers:
We have a team of Social Prescribing Link workers specifically for adults within the Positive Steps team to provide support and guidance.
What is Social Prescribing?
Many things that affect our health and wellbeing cannot be treated by doctors or medicine alone, like loneliness, isolation or stress. Through an allocated Link Worker, Social Prescribing connects adults to non-medical support to improve health, wellbeing and social connections through groups, activities and organisations.
Working in partnership with Action Together the service can be accessed by anyone in Oldham, who either has an Oldham address or an Oldham GP. We accept referrals from any professionals and self-referrals via either call 01613392345 option 1 or email gmicb-old.socialprescribing@nhs.net
